Raymond & Dorothy Rake
Raymond and Dorothy Rake were raised in rural Shawnee and Osage counties, respectively. They were married in 1939 and lived in rural Tecumseh all of their lives. The majority of the years the farm was a successful dairy farm and in later years they had a beef herd.
Dorothy always enjoyed having flower beds and both enjoyed working in their vegetable garden. Later in life, when going to Topeka to shop and do errands, they would stop and enjoy the gardens around Lake Shawnee. Dorothy passed away in August of 2009 and Raymond preceded her in death in February of 1999.
This memorial is in their honor and respect for the gardens of Lake Shawnee and came about by donations of their nieces and nephews.
